This recipe is courtesy of Philip Moore, the owner distiller of Distillery Botanica and maker of the festive We Three Kings Christmas Gin. A spiced, fruity gin that has Christmas plum pudding infused within it, the flavours of the gin combines with coffee to create a luxury version of the ubiquitous espresso martini. It's one for an after dinner drink that will impress the most avid of espresso martini drinkers.
Ingredients
- 30ml Distillery Botanica We Three Kings Christmas Gin
- 30ml Mr Black Coffee Liqueur (we've also used Mr Black Coffee Amaro as a substitute to great success!)
- 30ml espresso
- 5ml muscovado sugar syrup*
- Orange zest
*To make the muscovado sugar syrup, dissolve two parts sugar in one part water
How to make a Christmas Espresso Martini
- Pour all ingredients into shaker and fill with ice
- Shake vigorously (or as Philip says, shake it 60 times!)
- Strain into a chilled glass
- Squeeze orange zest over glass. Garnish with either the zest or dehydrated orange
