This cocktail was created in 2008 by Jörg Meyer at Le Lion in Hamburg, Germany
It's a very simple and delicious. Jörg says you can never have too much basil in this cocktail!
Ingredients for a Gin Basil Smash
12 fresh basil leaves
60ml gin (we recommend Moore's Distilllers Cut Juniper gin)
22.5ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice
10ml sugar syrup
extra basil sprigs for garnish
How to make a Gin Basil Smash
Muddle* the basil leaves in the base of cocktail shaker, and the rest of the ingredients. Add ice and shake well. Strain into a short glass with ice and add the sprigs of garnish.
* Muddling first helps create a greener drink
