This gin was created to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Big Pineapple, which is a stone's throw away from the distillery. A tourist attraction that get its name from the 16 ft fibreglass pineapple structure situated out its front, many visitors to the Big Pineapple will remember the equally iconic pineapple parfait dessert they could get during their visit. Comprising layers of cold ice cream with fresh fruit cradled in a hollow pineapple topped with a cocktail umbrella, now you can drink the dessert too!
Inspired by that dessert, Cavu Distillery have made the gin with a delightful tropical mix of pineapple, passionfruit, strawberry, mango, vanilla and coconut. There is a definite creamy mouthfeel with the tang of the fruits coming through on the palate.
Lest you think of this as a syrupy liqueur though, there is no added sugar, and the hefty dose of juniper acts as a reminder that this is still definitely a gin.
As with the label on their Original Gin, the Pineapple Parfait bottle is equally as playful and will transport you to the Sunshine Coast in no time.
