You're a fan of bittersweet flavours. Darling Distillery Coffee Gin takes their award winning base Darling Gin and amps it up with not just coffee, but nutty chocolatey flavours.
It is no secret that we are big fans of the Darling Distillery gin. In fact, that gin featured in the Gin Queen's Top 10 Australian Gins of 2021 and is an intriguing citrus zesty gin. Not only is it wonderfully balanced, it uses Melbourne rooftop honey and freshly churned butter to give the gin a fuller mouthfeel than you'd find in most other gins.
Well, if it was possible to top that, the team at Darling Distillery have done it! For their coffee gin, they've taken that base gin and macerated it with cacao nibs, roasted hazelnuts and wattleseeds. After 7 days, the result is blended with locally roasted cold brew coffee. And for a hint of natural sweetness? That's from dates, and not sugar.
The end result is a coffee gin that is still very much a gin, not a liqueur. But this time, it's got these delicious coffee and nutty chocolate flavours that work so well together. The sweetness is just enough to balance the bitter elements.
All round? This is one gin that is versatile as heck. Not only is it sippable at the end of a meal, it works well in most coffee cocktails. And let's not forget the Turbo G&T. Instead of using cold brew coffee to add to your gin and tonic, simply use this coffee gin, top up with tonic and voila!
